WHY YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT
“I don’t know what I want.”
I hear this all the time from people struggling to find their purpose in life.
My response is always: "Let yourself know.”
I say that because somewhere in the unconscious people ALWAYS knows exactly what they want — they’re just afraid to let themselves know what it is.
Why? Because once we let ourselves know what we truly want, we know we’re going to have to make some changes. And change is scary. Change is uncomfortable.
So to avoid that discomfort — to avoid the fear of change — we hide what we want from ourselves and feign confusion. (Confusion is always a mask.)
We all have a life purpose.
You can feel it if you're willing. You have to go down deep and find what you're longing for on a soul level. What do you want to create and give? How do you want to contribute? What it is that wants to be expressed through you?
You have to believe you deserve it.
Many of us carry shame from our past that says we're unworthy of abundance, love, success, and happiness. We tell ourselves a story that says “Life doesn't work out for me” or "things are always hard for me.”
That story is a relic from your past and it only has bearing on the future if you continue to believe it.
Start telling yourself a different story -- that things do work out for you, and then find the evidence for it.
Remember the moments in your life when things seemed to happen magically for you, where a series of events aligned in unexpected ways that led you to a new encounter, a new opportunity. We’ve all had those experiences. Remind yourself of them and BELIEVE that if it happened before it can happen again and again.
You must trust the inherent goodness of what you want.
This is key. You have to believe in every cell of your being that when you get what you want it's not only good for you, it's good for your family, it's good for your community, and it's good for the world!
Why? Because when you live your life purpose, when you choose happiness and fulfillment, when you allow abundance, you inspire and give permission for others to do the same.
So go ahead, let yourself know what you want, make the changes you need to make, get the support you need, and go after it!
